Roles and responsibilities
The role involves managing ongoing projects, primarily focused on Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) and Multi-Dwelling Units (MDU) planning. You will work with contractors, field technicians, and coordinators to create plans for upcoming projects, gain the necessary approvals and keep setting timelines. The job also requires you to validate works, carry out necessary corrections, input field data accurately into the GIS and maintain these data records. Your duty also extends to making sure all these align with the overall company standards.
Duties
- Being responsible for semi-built projects within the Service Operations Team such as FTTH and Mult-Dwelling Units (MDU) planning. Such responsibility includes but is not limited to:
- Liaising with Contractors, Field Techs and Co-ordinators to come up with solutions for the proposed project
- Designing cost effective solutions
- Obtaining the approval of the project
- Ensuring schedule is respected and drawing the attention as necessary whenever tasks are overdue
- Certifying works and implement corrective action as required
- Convert data collected from field operations into GIS with proper and accurate spatial location.
- Interpret aerial photography, imagery, drawing or sketches from various sources.
- Enter data into the GIS, using techniques such as coordinate geometry, keyboard entry of tabular data, scanning and attachment of related documents as well as insertion from other sources of data.
- Maintain or modify existing GIS records.
- Review existing or incoming data for currency, accuracy, usefulness, quality, or completeness of documentation.
- Assure consistency and company wide standards and practices for data conversion, data maintenance and upgrades
- Give continuing and meticulous attention to detail.
- Updating project data according to workflow.
- Providing updates on the projects at hand.
- Monitoring and ensuring that individual targets are met.
- Taking an active role in ensuring that team KPIs are met
- Provide / receive training when necessary
- Be available to carry out such ad hoc assignments and any other duties as may be requested from time to time by the Company and management as required.
Requirements
- Graduate Engineer – ideally with a utility company preferably in telecoms with at least 3 years of work experience in such a role.
- Good communication skills in both reading and writing in the English language.
- Ability to use Teams and Microsoft Office
- Good Knowledge and experience in use of GIS
- Good Knowledge and experience in use of ACAD or ZWCAD system
- Motivated to learn and work hard.
